Erosion Is the process by which soil and sediment is moved from one location to another

Runoff Is precipation that flows over land onto rivers and streams this water later enters oceans
Evaporation Takes place when water from the oceans and the earths surface water changes into water vapor energy from the sun causes evaporation water gains energy during evaporation
Groundwater Water held underground in the soil or in pores or crevices in rock
Water table The upper surface of under ground water the upper boundary of the zone of saturation
Aquifer A body of rock or sediment that stores groundwater and allows the flow of groundwater
Porosity The percentage of the total volume of a rock or sediment that that consist of open spaces
Permeability The ability of a rock or sediment to let fluids pass through it open spaces or pores
impermeable the state or quality of a material or membrane that causes it to allow liquids or gases to pass through it.
Artesian spring A spring whose water flows from a crack in the cap rock over the aquifer

Zone of saturation Farther down the water collects down in an area called the zone of saturation
